Happy World Earth Day!
This year’s theme for world earth day is to ‘Invest in our planet’, and is mainly focusing on calling for businesses to shift towards sustainable practices.
World Earth Day is celebrated every year on the 22nd of April. We celebrate World Earth Day in order to remind the people on our planet to protect our environment and ecosystem and to try and encourage people to live a more sustainable lifestyle.
There are many businesses who mainly use plastic and manufacture their products in ways that can really harm our environment, that’s why we really want to encourage other businesses to use less plastics, less harmful materials, and more environmentally friendly practices.
The very first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970, which makes this year its 52nd anniversary.
There are many different ways to celebrate World Earth Day, some people may participate in different eco-friendly activities and by changing some of their day-to-day errands to make them more sustainable. Here are a couple of activities that you could try this Earth Day:
- Be car-free
- Make a bird feeder/animal habitat
- Grow something
- Recycle more
- Make crafts from recycled materials
However, World Earth Day isn’t just about being eco-friendly and sustainable for one day, it’s about encouraging people around you and to show them what can be done, for them to then continue these sustainable practices throughout the rest of the year.
There are many different ways for you to make your life become more sustainable, you can recycle more, grow produce, save energy, donate unused items, use renewable energy, purchase more plastic-free products. By doing these things it will really help our planet and environment, that’s why we celebrate World Earth Day, to encourage people to carry on with these activities and practices and use them in their everyday lifestyles.
