With 260 million tons of plastic being produced in the world each year and 10% of that ending up in our Oceans we all need to do our bit to reduce our plastic waste!
Here are our top 5 plastic free swaps that you can make easily.
1 – Toothbrush – most toothbrushes are made from plastic and will certainly end up in landfill or even the Ocean. They take over 400 years to decompose. It is advised that you change your toothbrush every 3 months so that is a lot of toothbrushes from one person alone! Swap to a biodegradable bamboo toothbrush – they are just as good and will biodegrade in as little as 4 months in the right environment!
2 – Plastic Cotton Buds – These are used 13.2 billion times per year in the UK a lot are flushed down the toilet apparently so easily end up on the beaches and the Ocean. Swap with 100% biodegradable bamboo cotton buds, easy!
3 – Plastic Bottles of Shampoo and Conditioner. Although a lot of the packaging on these say they are recyclable, they rarely are as it is difficult to clean them properly and with most toilets having waste bins they usually end up in there and then on to landfill. So swap these with either shampoo and conditioner bars or see our Aluminium bottles that come with biodegradable and compostable refills. The perfect solution to this big problem!
4 – Lip Balms – most of these come in small 5g plastic tubes, these will take over 400 years to decompose!
