Yes It’s finally here, one of our favourite months of the year, it’s Plastic Free July!
Plastic free July is a global event that started in 2011, it encourages people to really think about plastic waste and try to avoid single use plastics for the month of July. Hopefully, you will want to continue this practice for good and find that there are now in 2021 so many amazing plastic free alternatives out there, and that it’s a lot easier than you might have first thought.
As we are now all too aware about the devastating effects plastic packaging is having on our planet and oceans, it is crucial that we all make the necessary changes and reduce our plastic waste together. The more we take a stand and choose alternatives the more likely the bigger companies that are responsible for much of this waste will listen and make the necessary changes themselves.
At Green Planet Beauty we are proud to be a 100% plastic free beauty brand. We believe that plastic free beauty is the future, and our aim has always been to be part of the wave of change in the beauty industry.
We are also big advocates of zero waste shopping and are so encouraged and delighted to see so many popping up throughout the country and proud to stock some of them with our own products.
We regularly shop at our local zero waste store, and these really are the shops of the future, although they look like shops of the past, which isn’t a bad thing! So, if you haven’t tried shopping this way please give it a try! Just bring your own reusable containers and fill them with the quality produce you require. They are fantastic and they help you to eliminate so much plastic packaging waste.
Some of our favourite swaps so far have been, ditching face wipes and using washable cotton face pads. They are just fabulous and can be washed time and time again. Using a stainless-steel razor with recyclable blades has been a game changer, a close shave, and no more disposable plastic razors ending up in landfill! And using soap bars for washing your hands, body, and shaving. No more plastic bottles needed, and this swap is so easy to get used to and totally zero waste, what’s not to love.
